Eligibility Verification

The Echo Group provides the valuable Eligibility Verification Check (EVC) using the long established Oakland-Health & Welfare Data Center (HWDC) link that allows Echo customers to access Medi-Cal eligibility information and to review and clear Medi-Cal Share of Cost data. The ShareCare Eligibility and Share of Cost pages work much like a standard Medi-Cal POS device to verify Medi-Cal Information. The data is passed from the ShareCare system to the HWDC using a secure link and

standard HIPAA compliant 270/271 file formats.

Monthly Medi-Cal Eligibility File

ShareCare includes functionality to download and process the Monthly Medi-Cal Eligibility File (MMEF) from the state as well as the Medi-Cal Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

Assessments

ShareCare contains a series of clinical assessments designed to allow you to pick and choose which assessments the consumer needs. The ShareCare assessments can be customized by your organization to require, hide, or change various fields or areas of the assessments. The system provides you with a summary tool that supplies quick reference to all assessments completed for a consumer. Both the CalOMS and ASI are part of the ShareCare suite of assessments.

Billing

Multiple claim file formats are available including the CMS 1500, UB04, and the Medi-Cal 837 for both Mental Health and ADP.   Keeping pace with state requirements, Echo has also added in support for the Medi-Cal Short Doyle Phase II.   When the system generates claim files it also generates a Bill Print Status Report.  The Bill Print Status Report will inform you of errors the system found when trying to create the claim file. A tool is available that allows an organization to define what the warnings and errors are for any given file format.

Once Medi-Cal claims have been submitted to the state, the state prepares a Medi-Cal EOB or a HIPAA 835 payment file that can be downloaded from the state directly into ShareCare.

Reports
There are many standard reports available in the system to assist you in extracting and viewing system data. These include the Medi-Cal Claim Report, the Service Activity Report and the Service Provider Productivity Report.

Additional reports in ShareCare that are required by the state of California include the CSI and CalOMS reports.
