Please support HR 5040 – HITECH Extension for Behavioral Health Services Act of 2010

The HITECH Extension for Behavioral Health Services Act of 2010 proposes to provide meaningful use of Electronic Health Records to mental health professionals and facilities, a category of providers that were excluded from the original American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health provisions, which were signed into law in 2009.

Please contact your US representative and ask them to co-sponsor the bill.  To contact them, you can use the House of Representatives Website.

As behavioral health organizations face funding challenges, this bill is a means by which many organizations can receive funding for training on and implementation of Electronic Health Records, funding which has already been made available to other healthcare markets.
